Weekend Report

I hope y'all had a fabulous weekend.  My weekend was spent working on Heartland. I think I'm about half way done with the blocks. I decide to trim the half square triangle blocks as I went rather than trimming them all before finishing up the blocks.

I think I'm ready to take a small break from this to work on something else.  I am enjoying make Heartland but it is becoming a bit monotonous.  So to change things up I'm going to start working on Kansas Trouble Quilters new BOM Bird's Eye View.

I'm making the sample for our shop's Last Saturday BOM.  Soooo....gotta go now.  I'm heading into the shop to start selecting the fabrics.  Stay tuned...

Weekend Report

I finally sewed with my machine!!!  Not that what I did was particularly exciting but it's something...right?

While at Quilt Festival back in November I picked up a set of 9 degree circle wedge rulers from Doheny Publications.  I finally made some time on Saturday to try one of them out.  I chose the Mini #1 Ruler to start out along with the leftover scraps from my Spiderweb quilt.  Here's the ruler.

And here is the results.

I'm pretty please with it.  It is approximately 18 1/2" in diameter.  When I find time I'll applique it to a background and it'll become a small wallhanging or maybe a baby quilt for an NICU our guild regularly donates to.

Now for the less exciting.  I spent Sunday making half square triangles.  They are for Miss Rosie's Heartland quilt.  The log cabins are done and just waiting for the half square triangles...all 600 of them.

I know!  After making my Ocean Waves quilt, 600 half square triangles should be a breeze...right?  Yes.  But I can still whine about it while I do it.  I'm half square triangled out.

So what have you been up to?

I hate packing...

...because it's keeping me from my sewing machine!  But it's not keeping me from shopping.

A couple patterns I found in a clearance bin.

Wouldn't these fabulous reproduction prints look good made into the Welcome Bouquet pattern?

And finally some Curio along with a pin dots for background.  I fell in love with Curio the very first time I saw it.  Right now I'm having a hard time decidinw whether to use it to make the Fresh Laundry quilt from above or for a Swoon quilt?  Either way I can't wait to play with it.

Well...back to work.  Do a little sewing for me would you.  Please!

Not a whole lot going on...

My machine has been very quiet lately...and it's killing me.  I'd like to be sewing but at the moment my quilting room looks like I've been ransacked.

We are packing up to move into a new house.  So I've been busy going through everything deciding what is going to stay and what is going to go.  One thing I'm learning is that I have WAY TOO MANY unfinished projects laying around.  And there is not enough ending up in the 'go away' as I had hoped.  I want to get rid of a lot of these UFO's but I can't see the point in just throwing them in the trash because really...who would want them?

Anyway.  I did manage to turn on my machine yesterday and finish off an embroidery I did quite a while back.  I thought I had lost it but found it buried in the closet.  I think I'm going to make a pillow out of it...after the move that is.

Here's a copy of the pattern from Needle Crafter if you feel like doing one too.
