Where does all my time go?

There's so much I want to do and not near enough time to do it.  No matter how well I manage my time, I still don't feel like I'm accomplishing enough.  I am constantly pulled back and forth between the things I need to do...like cooking and cleaning...versus the things I want to do...like watching my favorite tv shows.

And when it comes to quilting, what projects I work on is no exception.  Right now I have three need to do projects and a few gazillion want to do projects.  I can't show you "need to" #1 right now because it's in mid-finish mode and not quite ready to be shown.  But here are my other two"need to do's"...

Here's "need to do" #2, a Lilly Apron in Prayer Flag fabric by Arpil Cornell.  This is a sample for the shop that hopefully will be done tonight.  I think the fabric is just perfect for this project.

"Need to do" #3 is a mix of Minnick & Simpson, Three Sisters, and other fabrics found around the shop to make this Lost Ships quilt from Kaye England's book Scrappy Patches, Pinwheels and more!  This quilt will become a quilt kit for the shop so stay tuned.

Now for my "want to do's"...or at least my most recent additions to the "want to do" list.  While at the shop last week, I came across this fantastic book...Star Savvy Laps from Fats by Ellen Replogle!  I can't believe I had never come across this book before.  It's awesome!  And what's best about it is all the quilts are made from fat quarters.

Here's are two of the projects I have already decided that I "want to" make!  First is this beauty...Star in a Star.  For this quilt I selected a combination of Maison de Garance by French General , Park Avenue by Three Sisters and other miscellaneous prints.

Next is Star Whimsy...when I saw this quilt in the book, I immediately knew I wanted to make it with Barbara Brackman's new fabric line called Arnold's Attic.  It was just meant to be.

I actually have several more projects that I'd like to do in this book but for right now two will have to do.

So now what I want to know for you is...how do you fit it all in?  How do you have it all without losing your mind?  Do you ignore your household duties?  Do you make your family fend for themselves?  Do you give up television...or maybe a social life?

I'd love to hear how y'all do it because I could use some help...SERIOUSLY!

P.S.  I'm heading to Quilt Market in Houston on Thursday.  Anyone else going?

I hadn't seen that book!! OMG...loving it!
Housework has to give in order for me to accomplish quilting for myself. I've come to the realization that I can't do it all.
I'm envious you will be at market!! Bring me something. LOL

I feel the exact same way! My sewing time is very minimal...but I guess that's to be expected when watching 3 little kids all day! :) You've got some great projects ahead of you! Can't wait to see them all!

For once in my life, I'm ahead! Of you at least! LOL I LOVE, love that Star Fats book and have made one of the quilts you posted about! (Well, made the top, at least! LOL) My "Star Whimsey" was done in Jo Morton's and it's photo is at the bottom of my blog! :-D For everything ELSE! I'm behind, of course...and housework definitely goes; tv, too -- but I replace it with audio books -- and my kids often fend for themselves (but since they are homeschooled, it part of their education to learn survival skills! LOL) I make lots of lists prioritizing projects and to keep projects I wanna do in front of me so I don't forget!
Enjoy Houston!

I sacrifice my social life. I will pop in an audiobook and waste away the weekend. Unless I am sharing it with another socially stunted quilter then we are social together and we have the best of both worlds! LOL!
My sister is always on my case to get out, but when I'm out I'm thinking of all the piecing I am missing out on.
I'll be at Market too! My sister who has an Online shop decided to go this year and invited me to tag along. I super excited!!

It's nice to see others letting housework go some; I have a slight guilt problem if I'm sewing when there's cleaning to do, so sewing time suffers. I too would like some advice :-)

You've got me thinking again and that is not a good thing. I like you have too much to do.

I love star blocks. I will have to add Star Savvy Laps to my wish list.

I love the fabric you have for the Lily apron. I can't wait to see it when it is all done. Unfortunately, we all have those "wants" vs. "needs". Hopefully, we will be able to find a happy medium.

You have some lovely projects in the works. Yes, I want to do it all too, but I settle for various stages of completion and a lot of UFO's. LOL When you find out how to do it all, please let me know. :)

I know exactly how you feel. Shall we say, been there, done that or even, maybe still doing that. There is never enough time to do what I want. I'm always behind in something and that causes stress. I try to enjoy the process but it's really tough when you feel the pressure.

I opted to not go to Houston. Instead, I am going to retreat. Hopefully, I'll get some things done so I won't be so far behind.Have fun and take lots of pics...
