Weekend Report

I wish I could say I accomplished everything I wanted to but its just too darn hot!  As someone pointed out to me recently, its so hot the trees are fighting over dogs.

Saturday I spent the day cutting more random strips for my spiderweb quilt.
And while I was at it I cut 1 1/2" strips from the same fabrics for another scrap quilt.

All the strips are sewn together now and I'm cutting them into triangles now.
I'm not sure how I'm going to lay them out yet but here is one option.

Yesterday I finally finished my Which Witch's Boot embroidery.
And it looks fantastic if I do say so myself.  Next up is piecing it all together!

Oh...and last week I completed two more minis!  So now I have four minis needing quilting.

Back to the heat for just a moment...I know there are other places in the country that are experiencing higher temperatures right now but I need to whine for just a minute.  I promise to make it quick.

You'd think that after almost two months of 100+ degree weather I'd be used to it by now...but I'm not...not one little bit.  Being as our house is almost all windows with no shade trees and on a lake canal, its like living in a giant terrarium.  By mid afternoon our air conditioning struggles just to stay at 85.  We've had three days under 100 since mid June.  All this is making me very cranky.  Because really...who wants to quilt in a hot room with an iron going?  Not me!

I happy to report that yesterday I found a solution!  Let me introduce you to frogg togg's Chilly Pad!  Whoever designed this towel is a genious!

From frogg togg's website..."To the Chilly Pad is made from a hyper-evaporative material that retains water while remaining dry to the touch. When wet, the towel begins to evaporate and cool, providing cool, soft comfort to the user. When it stops cooling (about 1-4 hours, depending on conditions), you simply re-wet the towel in hot or cold water and wring it out. Within minutes, it's cool again."

Chilly pads are meant for staying cool while doing outdoor activities but let me tell you something.  They work great for keeping cool in a hot house while using an iron!

And with that I'm off to go use my iron!

Till next time...

I love to iron - even in the heat, I know, silly. Love the triangles, something I have not yet tried. Thank you on the Chilly Pads, passing the info on to a friends with MS who is having difficulty with the heat.

I need one of those chilly pads and it doesn't even get that hot here. I am hot at 80 degrees. LOL!! I really don't think I would be doing well in those temps. I feel for you,

OK, this is the third boot like that I have seen today. I adore it!!! I am trying to resist but I am getting week. Did you use crayons to color it in?

I'm a new follower(also new to quilting) I love all the possibilities that you present for scraps. I too keep it all. I was wondering if there are patterns for the blocks that are displayed on newspaper above? Thank you in advance. Claire brown
