Giving Thanks - Quilter's Blog Hop Party

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!
THANKS TO ALL WHO ENTERED.

Welcome to my stop on the Giving Thanks Quilter's Blog Hop Party.
Before I share the giveaway, I'd like to show my most recent finish.

I'm calling it Sweet Baby Tula.
(36" x 42")

This little quilt is a smaller version of a larger one that I made for an upcoming
quilt show.  Not sure how to quilt the larger one, I decided to use the leftover
blocks to make a smaller version that I could practice my quilting ideas on
without worrying about messing up and having to rip out stitches.

Here is a closer look at my feathers!  I'm no master longarm
quilter but I think I do a pretty good feather.

I know the quilt above looks a little wonky but I swear it's not.  Cameras do funny things
to objects when they are not laying perfect flat and/or blocked.  And to prove it,
here is a photo of the quilt after it was quilted and before it was washed.

Now for what you came by for...the GIVEAWAY!

Since the winner of my last giveaway never responded...I'm giving away her stuff!

Up for grabs is "101 Fabulous Small Quilts," an Olfa Splash and a
Seam-Fix seam ripper. The lucky winner will ALSO receive a
40-piece Charm Pack custom made from my stash to go along with the book.

For a chance to win, simply leave me a comment telling me what style of quilter
you are (traditional, modern, arty, somewhere in between) and what fabrics do you most
like to use (Civil War, 30's, batiks, modern...maybe a favorite designer).

If you don't answer the questions, you don't get the charms.

This giveaway is open to EVERYONE.  It doesn't matter where you live.
Just make sure I have a way to contact you. "No reply" commenters that
do not leave their email address are not eligible for the giveaway.

On Tuesday, November 26th, I'll announce the winner which
will be chosen via random number generator.

Good luck to everyone!!!

P.S.  Followers get a second chance to win.  Just tell how you follow my blog...I'm curious.

What a great giveaway! Thank you so much. I guess I'm a modern quilter because I use modern fabrics, but I do use traditional blocks and patterns from time to time. Some of my favorite fabric designers are Tula Pink (your quilt is beautiful, btw!), Sarah Jane, Anna Marie Horner, Bonnie and Camille, Leah Duncan... I could keep going on and on...

I would say I am a more modern quilter. Although I do like traditional blocks as well, just using modern fabrics. My favorite fabric lines come from Camille and Bonnie. I love all of the aqua and reds. I would say though that if I have a choice of what I win though--I would love some 30's prints. I am looking to put some scrappy quilts together.

Beautiful quilt you made! I'm a traditional quilter but I'm trying new things and the "modern" quilts are catching my eye. I've done lots of civil war quilts but now want to work with different fabrics. Next year I'm doing a BOM at my LQS with 30's. I'm also doing an online BOM using Kate Spain fabrics, she's my favorite designer.

Thank you for a super generous giveaway and a chance to win.

Hi Monica, I would definitely classify myself as a traditional quilter and therefore, love Civil War and 1930's fabrics. However, the modern fabrics are also great in traditional quilts. Thank you for a chance to win your generous giveaway.

I consider myself a semi modern quilter and I'm drawn to solids and modern designs. I love your modern quilt. Thank your for a chance to win your giveaway

Nrhaller said...

I am definitely between traditional and modern. I've only made one machine pieced top so far, but have not quilted it yet. There are several sections where the designer fabrics have frayed so they are very close (two or three threads) to the seam allowance. I'm concerned to quilt and wash it, I don't want it to fray at the seams. I have not allowed that to put a damper on my enthusiasm for quilting though. I love bright vivid colors, especially turquoise and orange right now. I also love contrasting colors and prints such as whites and blacks. Thanks for participating in this give away.

I definitely would call myself traditional with a strong attachment to civil war reproductions but I have been spreading my wings lately and made 4 modern style quilts It tinkles me to see you made a modern design and still added those amazing beautiful feathers to it. I also want to improve my applique skills and have started 3 projects using a different technique on each one to see where that takes me. Happy Thanksgiving!

i like traditional and modern ... modern is all about freedom and traditional all about precision sewing sort of .. i ver much like traditional quilting in modern fabrics and modern quilting in traditional fabrics ...

I really go for saturated colours, so the dark browns, reds, greens and blues of civial war repros are really something for my autumn side - but then I also like bold brught contrasts with solids ...

so i guess not sticking to any "style" too closely is the solution --- I simply do what I fancy at any given moment ..

LethargicLass said...

I love modern designs, but still have space in heart for traditional... with fabrics I am more modren though... I love Melody Miller, Echino and Kaffe Fassett

Susan said...

I love to use traditional quilt patterns, but I try to make them in my own way, using modern fabrics. I am intrigued by unusual methods of constructing the pieces; chain piecing, paper piecing. Also, I like to use all kinds of fabrics; I look at the colors and busyness of the design rather than the category it would fit into.
Thank you for the chance to win those exciting items and also for the challenge of thinking about why I do what I do!
