Good morning my Fabulous 400 Followers!

Before I talk specifics about the giveaway, I want to share a great question Kristie asked me in my last post about my recent fabric bender. Kristie wrote "So when you are buying just for stash enhancement, how much yardage do you usually buy?"
Because I consider myself a scrap quilter, I like to buy fat quarters. I will sometimes buy ½ yards if I really love something or it’s the minimum purchase amount which I’ve encountered on some websites. And I only buy yardage when I need it for a specific project.
I find this method works well for me. The reason I do it because:
- I LOVE fabric and I’m addicted to color and I always want lots of it in my quilts. 2)
- It allows me to buy all the fabrics I love and stay within my limited budget.
How they get sorted and organized once I get home is a whole different story...for another time.

Beautiful fabric. As a person who also makes scrap quilts, I go along with how you purchase fabric too. That said, I haven't purchased any in a while.

Thanks for answering my question. :) I haven't bought fabric for a while but when I do, I usually try to buy at least 1/2 yard unless I find yardage at a good price and then I try to buy at least 3 yards to use for borders and such. When I buy Civil War repros, I usually end up getting fat quarters so that I can have a better variety in my quilts.

Didn't know of this shop until you mentioned them recently in a post.
I wish their website was easier to use because they look to be a treasure trove of fabrics.
I follow your line on fabric amounts. I love FQs but if I'm collecting for several projects that use the same look, I'll pick up the 1/2 yd. I have been doing that with my repros since I'm collecting for a Bonnie Blue pattern and a Kim Diehl one. These look to be right in line for the Kim Diehl one.

Great giveaway, I am a follower, and I like to buy FQ's too although if I really love a fabric I will get yardage of it.
I absolutely love fabrics from Bonnie Blue, Judie Rothermel and Jo Morton. They're all so beautiful and I'd love to win them. I usually buy fat quarter bundles and 2-3 yard pieces that can be used for borders and backgrounds. If I fund a really good sale, I'll buy 5-6 yards for a backing.

Happy 400th follower!! I have asked that some question on some other blogs I follow....wondering how much to buy since I'm fairly new to quilting. My main problem when I go to make something is I don't have enough background fabric for a pattern...do you buy background fabric for each quilt you make or do you deal with background fabric another way?

It has always been difficult to for me to decide how much fabric to buy, when I am buying for my stash. I buy 1/3 yard of many civil war fabrics and love scrap quilts.
