A visit to the Town & Country Quilt Show

Good day everyone!

Before I talk about the recent show I attended and all my fantastic finds that day, I just want to say "WOW"...197 comments so far on Friday's giveaway post!  I am completely overwhelmed with happiness and the thought of responding to each of you personally.  But if you'll be patient I'm going to try.

I've also decided to add to the giveaway by putting together another package of goodies for a second winner!  And here's where you come in.  If you were to hand select a giveaway just for you, what would it be?  What do you like winning?  Handmade items, precuts, patterns, fabric yardage?

I'll give y'all some time to think about it and comment on this post the things you'd like to win.  Then I'll do some "shopping" in my quilt room, using some of your suggestions, and come up with giveaway prize #2.  If I reach 300 comments, I'll add another giveaway prize and so on.

Now onto to the quilt show I attended on Friday.  It was a small show but there were some real gems I'd like to share.

This first photo is the guild's raffle quilt and I just loved it and it was hand quilted!  Picture number 3 is a quilt that has been on my To Do list for some time now.  Maybe I'll get to it in 2011.  Pictures 4 and 5 are of a quilt that's nine-patches finished at 1 1/2".  It was amazing.  I would have lost my mind piecing all those tiny blocks!

Also at this show was a quilters' yard sale put on by the guild members.  And searching through their stuff I found these gems!

I couldn't be more excited about these finds.  Picture #1 is of some Aunt Martha's quilt patterns.  I didn't even know they made them.  The magazines in picture #2 are from 1977 and 1979.  The Quilter's Newsletter Magazine was a whole 35 pages!  I just had to buy them because I thought they were cool and let's be honest, they are a little bit of quilting history.  One in picture #3 is from 1973...I was 3 when it was published!  And the last photo are patterns from one of my favorite designers Lori Smith of From My Heart to Your Hands.

And lastly, I couldn't leave the show without some new embroidery patterns from my favorite designer Meg Hawkey of Crabapple Hill Studio.  I can't wait to do Hocuspocusville for next Halloween.

Well I'm off now to do some quilting.  Hopefully I'll have something to share within a day or two.  Don't forget to leave me a comment about the things you like to win in giveaways.

Ciao y'all.

Wanna hear something funny? I have a baggie of scraps of 1" squares of fabric to do that quilt you posted. It is the one with all the nine patches that are super tiny. The pattern in called OMIGOSH. It will take me a few years of cutting all my 1800's scraps but I shall conquer. LOL!

Great finds! I saw Hocuspocusville hanging at a quilt shop yesterday. I look forward to your progress.

I think quilters favorite things to win is hands down fabric. I really like the fall fabric going on right now. Personally though I love precuts and hand made items too.

I love the old quilting magazines! I bought a stack from eBay once and still love paging through them. Thanks for sharing the beautiful quilts!

Wow what a great quilt show! Those are my favorite kinds of quilts! I love your finds!~ Hocuspocusville will be so cute! Hmm, to answer your question, everything you suggested is a good win! Handmade is fun because it gives you a connection to the maker, but fabric is always fun too. LOL Guess I wasn't much help. ;-) Have a great day!

I do think quilters like fabric and patterns for giveaways. I don't often buy pre-cuts, so that is a plus too :-) Great quilt show and love your finds.

For a giveaway, I don't know.... yardage, I guess. I love those quilts you showed. I especially like the stars with the flying geese circling each one! I'd love to make that one. And I also love the tiny tiny one - although I think that would look pretty cute made a more manageable size, as well!

My favorite thing to win is precut fabrics, whether it be a charm pack or strips, and it doesn't have to come from a vendor, it can come from your stash! Thanks for asking!

I'd love to win precuts!

For me, something handmade would be so much fun. Most of the things I'm making end up as gifts for others and I rarely take the time to make something just for me. Thanks for yet another chance to win in your giveaway! (And thanks for asking....)

Love those quilts, and the quilters yard sale sounds like fun.

As far as giveaways go, I like to receive hand made items. Probably because I give most of mine away and don't have as many as I'd like around the house. Precuts are also nice also, and I agree with Sandy, they can be precuts from your own stash. :)

I would like to win a pattern and yardage. Hopefully a pattern I don't have.

Definately fabrics are my favorite thing to win. Doesn't have to be fancy, just some unused strips in coordinating fabrics makes me happy!

Anything would lovely to me. I find the giving to be so generous and sweet. Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate. Happy quilting.

Precut fabrics for me personally! we do not have the charm packs, layer cakes and jelly rolls you have so these are for me the ultimate luxury.

Fabric giveaways are great, and I'm not picky! Scraps, precuts, yardage. I can certainly find a use for it :)

Hi Monica,
what a great show that must have been. Beautiful quilts - I like the tiny nine patch one...I'll do that once I retire :-)
As for the give away - I like surprises...therefore fabric sounds just as good as patterns, but I'm especially fond of handmade things. And I'm planning to have a give away next month...so I'll keep reading your comments to see what people like :-)
Have a nice week with lots of time for your favourite hobbies.

Dizzy Geese is a pattern that I want to make too. Saw that made up at my local quilt show in red and blue batiks with tiny gold stars and accents, and it was stunning. I loved seeing it in another colorway, so thanks for posting that. The Aunt Martha quilt books, I have a handful that are 32 years old, bought them in Branson, Missouri on my honeymoon :^)

Great Quilt Show. My vote is for fabric...what quilter doesn't like to win fabric:)Pre cuts or yardage...either makes a girl happy.

Fabric, fabric, fabric. Love to get fat quarters because it's enough fabric to actually be useful in a quilt.

These quilts are amazing. WOW! For another prize for the giveaway...anything works for me. If I got to choose it might be precuts. It makes making a quilt that much easier. Thank you.

Beautiful quilts - thanks for sharing. For another giveaway prize I think related fat quarters are always great. I see several have suggested precuts - can't say I like those. BUt whatever you select will be just right!

I always love a good show but a great deal is even better! I loved quilt #3 and had a chance to see it in person when it was shown in the Dallas Quilt Guild show last March. It was just wonderful. Do you know if it's a pattern?
I bought my first (and probably only) pattern by Lori Smith while on a retreat in January. Gorgeous design and beautiful applique but the instructions were horrid. It was a BOM and I made two months before putting it aside. Maybe someday I'll pick it up again but for now...
Giveaways are wonderful with Pre-Cuts. Love when there are Layer Cakes or little Fat Eighth bundles. I just feel that patterns can be a personal thing and not everyone likes the same type of quilt. Perfect example is that my sister loves applique and wool quilting. I LOVE piecing and things with Stars. It was fun visiting your blog!
